About NUMISCOPE

Identify. Authenticate. Value. Collect. Practical guides for people who want to understand a coin before they spend money on it.

Why NUMISCOPE exists

Buying coins and bullion should not depend on luck or on trusting the person selling to you. Most of what a careful buyer needs to know is public: official specifications, published spot prices, completed sale records and the standards the grading services use. The hard part is knowing where to look and what to do with it.

NUMISCOPE brings that together in one place and turns it into routines you can actually use: a checklist for inspecting a coin, a worksheet for valuing it and a scorecard for deciding whether to go ahead.

How the guide is researched

  • Official sources first. Coin specifications come from the mints themselves, such as the US Mint and the Royal Mint, and from the major grading services. Units and conversions come from NIST.
  • Every chapter lists its sources, so you can check anything you plan to rely on.
  • Facts, estimates and examples are kept separate. Worked examples use clearly labeled example prices, never predictions.
  • No invented numbers. Where something varies, such as prices, premiums or a dealer's offer, the guide shows you how to find the current figure instead of guessing it.

What the guide does not do

It is an educational reference. It does not give financial or investment advice, and it does not promise that any coin will rise in value. Home checks can rule out many problem coins, but they cannot prove a coin is genuine. For a valuable coin, a professional grading or authentication service is the final word, and the guide explains how to use one.
